Once they make it down they feel as if they whole world is theirs. That feeling was soon forgotten once they run into some angry natives.
Many characters are similar but in the show they seem more fleshed out, especially Octavia. However, the books are very relationship focused, lots of love drama. The Ark is called the Colony and there are only 3 ships on it: Arcadia, Walden, and Phoenix. There is an extra character, Glass, who stays on the Colony while the are first on earth.
